When it snows in Wisconsin, does it make the news? No. When storms hit Tornado Alley, does it make the news? No. But when storms hit Tornado Alley, they make the news in Wisconsin. Why are we so fascinated with weather? Unless it's the Great Snowpocalypse of 2011 or the devastating tornado that hit Joplin, Mo. last spring, I really don't know if it should be news anywhere.

I don't object to this kind of coverage, but the fact that I felt harassed with weather reports as opposed to other world, national and local news all weekend was frustrating.
As a country, I believe we need to re-focus our newsworthy attention. Instead of clinging to stories of something we could know by simply looking out the window, why not focus on the upcoming presidential race? Or maybe the debt crisis in Europe.
I simply think that if we were better educated, we might not be so whiney about the weather. However, that's not going to stop me from checking the weather in Florida every day this week before Spring Break ...
